🚛 Rules for Garbage Pickup
To ensure proper collection, please follow these guidelines for the County-provided 96-gallon can:
Placement & Time:
Cans must be out by 6:00 a.m. on pick-up day or the night before.
Place cans within 5 feet of the road.
If you have multiple cans, space them at least 5 feet apart.
Cans turned over before the truck arrives will not be picked up.
Can Orientation:
The opening of the can must face the road.
The handle must face the house. Incorrect placement will prevent pick-up as it can damage the lid.
Obstacles:
Do not place cans beside any obstacles (mailboxes, cars, fences, telephone poles, etc.). The collection truck will document the obstruction, and the can will not be picked up.
Waste Requirement:
All household waste must be bagged and placed inside the 96-gallon can.
Do not stack garbage around or put it on top of the can.
To request extra cans (added to your bill), call (662) 563-6200.
🧑 Disabled Back Door Service
We offer back door service for customers who are unable to pull the can to the end of the driveway. To receive this service, you must:
- Provide an excuse from your doctor.
2. Sign a form in the County Administrator’s office before service will commence.

🏘️ Rental Property Guidelines
We strongly suggest that property owners leave the garbage account in their name and include the garbage fee in the renter’s rent.
If the renter fails to pay the bill, the Property Owner becomes responsible.
If the account is in the renter’s name and they move out while the electricity/utilities remain active, the account will be automatically transferred to the Property Owner’s name.
🏛️ Hearing Officer (Billing Disputes)
Customers who wish to dispute their bill but cannot provide a utility disconnect notice may present their case to the Hearing Officer.
Required: You must provide other supporting documents (mail, tax returns, check stubs, etc.).
Schedule: The Hearing Officer meets every 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
Attendance: If you are not present by 9:00 a.m., you will have to wait until the next monthly meeting.
